Elretur, which handles Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and batteries on behalf of more than 900 members, has chosen to become part of BeCause, a digital platform for collecting, coordinating and communicating sustainability information.
“Sustainability is important for the environment and the climate. But it may also be important for companies that want to survive in the market of the future, where sustainability will increasingly become a competitive parameter,” says Morten Harboe-Jepsen, CEO of Elretur.
“That is why Elretur and BeCause have entered into a partnership. We want to make it easier for our members to show their sustainability work. Through their membership of Elretur, our members already comply with EPR, and their figures for collection and recycling are reported to the Danish Environmental Protection Agency’s producer register via Danish Producer Responsibility (DPA).”
By becoming part of BeCause, Elretur is using a digital platform where Elretur and our members can collect sustainability-related communication in one place and automatically show how they take responsibility across their channels through the tools created by BeCause.

Elretur is Denmark’s largest Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO), representing many different industries and types of companies. We handle EPR for electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and batteries on behalf of our more than 900 members.
Elretur is a non-profit organisation that ensures responsible and cost-effective collection and management of the electronic and battery waste delivered to Denmark’s recycling centres. Elretur recycles 84 per cent of the products collected, which is above the EU average of 80 per cent. The goal is now to go one step further and increase product reuse.
