Comparing prices between Producer Responsibility Organizations – what you need to know

Not all Producer Responsibility Organizations have the same tasks and costs – and this is important to keep in mind when comparing prices.

Almost all Producer Responsibility Organizations have now published their prices, and comparisons across the market are therefore naturally taking place.

At Emballageretur, we are proud to offer low and competitive prices to our members. However, it is also important to point out that prices between Producer Responsibility Organizations cannot always be compared directly.

Most Producer Responsibility Organizations have a collection responsibility. This means that, based on their market share, they have been assigned one or more geographical areas in Denmark where they must collect, transport and treat packaging waste.

One of the current Producer Responsibility Organizations does not have this responsibility, because its market share is not large enough. This also means that the organization does not have to cover the related costs that the other Producer Responsibility Organizations have to pay. This should therefore be taken into account when comparing prices.

It is worth remembering that the largest costs in producer responsibility lie in the actual collection, transport and treatment of packaging waste, and that these costs are an unavoidable part of the system. There may be differences here depending on the agreements the individual Producer Responsibility Organizations have been able to make with their suppliers.
