Prices and environmental fees

At Retur, you pay one fixed annual membership fee plus environmental fees calculated on the basis of your products and quantities. For packaging, you can calculate an estimate directly using our fee calculator. For other schemes, the fee depends on product category and quantities - contact us and we will help clarify what is relevant for you.

What does the payment consist of?

Your total payment as a Retur member typically consists of three elements:

Membership fee

The membership fee is the fixed annual cost of being a member of Retur. It costs DKK 1,500 per year and gives you access to all relevant schemes within Retur — regardless of whether your company has one or several EPR obligations. The fee covers access to Returportalen, guidance, ongoing updates and the full range of services from Retur.

Environmental fees

The environmental fees are the variable element. They are calculated on the basis of the products, materials and quantities you place on the market. The fees finance, among other things, collection, transport, sorting, treatment, reuse, recycling, documentation and administration of the schemes you are covered by.

Authority charges

Companies with EPR obligations must also pay charges to the authorities — including registration and administration fees to Danish Producer Responsibility (DPA) and the Danish Environmental Protection Agency. These charges are set and collected by the authorities. They are therefore not part of Retur's prices and are the same regardless of which Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO) you choose.

Why Retur is able to keep costs down

Retur is non-profit and member-owned. That means we are not required to generate returns for external owners - every pound goes towards running the schemes efficiently and in the interests of our members.

But it is not only about ownership structure. It is about scale. The more companies that are part of Retur, the stronger our negotiating position with collectors and treatment providers. This translates directly into the agreements we enter into — and into your environmental fees.

In addition, environmental fees are set in Retur's sectors, in which you as a member participate directly. This ensures that pricing is transparent, professionally grounded and based on actual costs.
