What do you pay as a member of Emballageretur?

Emballageretur’s prices, also called environmental fees, for 2026 are listed below.

Emballageretur’s environmental fees are set every year and announced to our members before 1 October.

Our environmental fees cover the following costs:

Administrative costs, including financial security, related to the handling of packaging waste

Price sheet for members

The prices apply from 1 January to 31 December 2026 and are exclusive of VAT.

Quantities above 8 tonnes of packaging per year (DKK per kg)

Quantities below 8 tonnes of packaging per year — total packaging quantity (DKK per kg)

Eco-modulated fees

An important part of Extended Producer Responsibility is that it should pay for your company to use less packaging — and packaging that is better designed and easier to recycle.

That is why we, as a Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO), are required to modulate the fees you pay us to cover the costs associated with waste management in Denmark.

Eco-modulated fees are based on a bonus/malus system. The modulated fee is the price you pay as a member for the handling of your packaging waste when you place packaging on the market that falls into the red level.

The modulated fee is an additional 35% of the operational costs. Anyone who cannot document that their packaging belongs to the green or yellow level will be charged the red-level price.

Annual membership fee

Membership of Emballageretur costs DKK 1,500 per year — regardless of how many of Retur’s Producer Responsibility Organisations your company is part of.

In addition to environmental fees, an annual membership fee of DKK 1,500 is charged per member, regardless of how many of our PROs you are a member of. Emballageretur does not charge a start-up fee when you join.

Annual fees to the Danish Environmental Protection Agency and Danish Producer Responsibility

In addition to the costs payable to their Producer Responsibility Organisation, all companies must also pay annual fees to Danish Producer Responsibility (DPA) and the Danish Environmental Protection Agency. Emballageretur does not collect these annual fees.

New members must also pay a registration fee to Danish Producer Responsibility when they register through our member portal, Returportalen.
