If your company is covered by EP for fishing gear containing plastic, you must report the quantities you have placed on the market each year.
Reporting forms the basis for responsibility, allocation and management
The annual reporting is not just a formality. It forms the basis for how your EPR obligation is handled in practice, and how quantities are allocated between categories and schemes.
This means that data must be calculated correctly and be documented. The deadline is 31 March each year, and reporting covers the previous calendar year.
You must report the total weight in kilograms of the fishing gear containing plastic that you have placed on the Danish market in the previous calendar year. Quantities must be reported separately for commercial fishing gear and other fishing gear.
You must also report quantities of gear that have been collected and managed as waste, including recycled quantities. For commercial fishing gear, quantities collected from allocated ports must also be reported.
When you register for the first time, you must also provide the quantities you expect to place on the market in the current and coming year.
Quantities are calculated as the total weight in kilograms of the fishing gear containing plastic that you have placed on the Danish market. For most companies, this requires a fixed structure with product lists, item numbers, weight per product and a clear distinction between commercial fishing gear and other fishing gear.
During supervision, the authorities may ask to see the documentation behind the reported figures. The basis should therefore be kept up to date on an ongoing basis — not only close to the deadline.

For many companies, the main challenge is not the deadline itself, but making weight data, product lists and categorisation work together in practice.
As a member, Fiskeriretur reports to Danish Producer Responsibility on your behalf based on the data you provide. We help structure the data basis and make reporting more manageable, but your company remains responsible for ensuring that the information is correct and can be documented.
Your company provides the data and documents the basis. Fiskeriretur reports on behalf of its members and handles the practical scheme tasks. Danish Producer Responsibility administers the register, allocations and formal decisions.
