How Batteriretur helps you

Categories and data

We provide guidance on battery categories, battery chemistry, weight and quantities, so you know which information needs to be ready.

Reporting

As a member, Batteriretur can report on your behalf based on the data you provide to us.

Collection and treatment

We organise the collection and treatment of end-of-life batteries and document the part of the value chain we handle on behalf of members. This helps the scheme meet the defined collection and recycling targets.

Why companies choose Batteriretur

A practical scheme - not just administration
Battery EPR is about data, reporting, collection, treatment and documentation. Batteriretur brings the practical scheme tasks together, so they can be handled collectively on behalf of members.

All five battery categories
Batteriretur covers portable batteries, LMT batteries, industrial batteries, SLI batteries and EV batteries. For portable batteries and LMT batteries, membership of a PRO is mandatory.

One membership covers relevant schemes
If you are already a member of Retur, you can add battery EPR to your existing membership and bring the relevant schemes together in one place.

Do you sell batteries in multiple countries?

For some companies, battery EPR does not stop at Denmark. If you sell batteries or products containing batteries in several countries, the requirements generally need to be handled nationally from market to market.

Through Retur's international partnerships, we can help you move forward with an overview and contact to relevant partners in the Nordic region and the rest of Europe.

Many companies are covered through products containing batteries

The rules do not only apply to companies that sell batteries as standalone products. EPR also applies when a battery is incorporated into a product - for example electronics, tools, vehicles or other equipment.

Batteriretur can guide you on which information you should investigate further if batteries form part of your products.

Is your company covered?

If you are the first to place batteries on the Danish market, you generally have EPR obligations. This applies to both standalone batteries and batteries incorporated into a product.

This typically applies to companies that:

  • manufacture or import batteries or products containing batteries
  • sell under their own name or trademark
  • sell directly to customers in Denmark through distance selling
  • have products containing batteries manufactured by others and sell them under their own name.

The EU Battery Regulation makes battery data even more important

The EU Battery Regulation gradually tightens requirements for documentation, traceability, battery passports and sustainability, among other areas.

This makes accurate data on battery category, chemistry and weight increasingly important.Batteriretur follows developments closely and guides members on what the changes may mean in practice.
