If your company places packaging or packaged products on the Danish market, you are likely to be covered by Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for packaging. We help you with reporting and the practical requirements, so you get off to a good start.

You provide data through Returportalen. We help you categorise your packaging, work with eco-modulation and complete reporting on the right basis. If you have questions along the way, we help you move forward.
We enter into agreements with municipalities and treatment facilities and manage the collective responsibility for the collection, sorting and treatment of packaging waste.
We help you understand rules, deadlines and data requirements and make it easier to work systematically with your packaging data and documentation.

It is not always straightforward to determine who has Extended Producer Responsibility for packaging. But often, the responsibility lies with the company that first makes the packaging or packaged product available on the Danish market.
This typically applies to companies that:
For ordinary packaging, companies with EPR obligations must be affiliated with a Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO). If you are unsure how the rules apply to your company, we will be happy to help with an initial assessment.
We cover EPR for packaging, electronics, batteries, fishing gear and textiles. If you are already registered with another Retur scheme, packaging can become part of the same setup, the same system and the same membership fee.
If you sell packaging in other countries, we can help you move forward. Through Nordic PRO Solutions, we cover the Nordic region, and through the Pronexa network, we provide guidance on the rest of Europe. This gives you one point of contact, even when requirements cut across markets.
The Retur family has more than 20 years of experience with EPR in Denmark. We are non-profit, which means the money stays in the scheme and is used to carry out the task for the members.

The PPWR introduces common European requirements for packaging design, recyclability, recycled content and reuse systems. For companies, this means greater demands on data, documentation and cooperation with suppliers.
This makes it even more important to have control of your packaging and your data foundation. As a member, you get a scheme that follows developments closely and helps you translate new requirements into practice.
If your company has packaging waste from deliveries, you may in some cases be able to apply for compensation for handling costs via affaldsanmodning.dk.
If you make less than 8 tonnes of packaging available per year, you can report it as aggregated packaging without breaking down quantities by material. This makes it easier for smaller companies to get started.

Emballageretur is part of Retur - Denmark’s largest family of Producer Responsibility Organisations. Together, we also cover electronics, batteries, fishing gear and textiles. This gives you the opportunity to bring several EPR obligations together under the same umbrella.

Rules on producer responsibility change constantly. The EU regulates, Denmark implements, and suddenly new requirements apply to your business.
